Toyota Level 5 Vehicle Spotted in Palo Alto
This Toyota Level 5 (formerly Lyft Level 5) Pacifica Minivan was spotted at the intersection Page Mill Road and Foothill Expressway in Palo Alto on Friday, January 28t, 2022 at around 10:30am.
Toyota acquired Lyft’s Level 5 division for developing autonomous vehicles in April 2021. I had published here multiple videos of the Lyft vehicles. But i have never seen a them using a minivan. The sensor setup on the rooftop is similar to their prior ones, with one difference: they put two Lidars beside each other. Quite unusual. Also the question looms, why does a Toyota-owned unit use a competitor’s car as platform? Any ideas?
