Cruise Robotaxi Depot And A Driverless Ride
This time I visited the Cruise depot on Sacramento Street between Polk Street and Van Ness before the trip, where the vehicles were prepared at 21:30 and then sent out on the road at 22:00. I counted around 27 vehicles. But check for yourself in this video.
Here again the photos for recounting.
We then took a Cruise Robotaxi from Polk Street to Fillmore Street. The ride had a little interesting event this time: the vehicle chose a different route in the middle of it and took us around the block once.
Because it had started raining, the return ride with a Cruise was not possible (Cruise is only licensed to drive in non-rain weather). So we took a Lyft back. This allowed us to compare the current fees.
Cruise: $7.98
Lyft: $9.96 + 2.00 Tips with Lyft’s price of 9.96 including a $6.05 Fare, a Service Fee of $3.60 (including $0.30 Lyft California Driver Benefits Fee), and a San Francisco Rideshare tax of $0.31.
The app deactivates itself when it rains, displaying this message:
This was my 18th driverless ride with a Cruise robotaxi.
