Cruise Temporarily Stops Driverless Operation In All Cities
Following the suspension of its driverless and commercial robotaxi license in California by both the DMV and PUC following a personal injury accident involving Cruise, the company has announced it will temporarily suspend its driverless robotaxi service in other cities as well. This is to ensure that all measures can be taken to regain the public’s trust.
Cruise had been involved in several incidents in recent months that had reflected poorly on the self-driving pioneer. Incidents ranged from stalled vehicles, hitting a public bus, collisions with a truck and a fire truck, and driving into fresh concrete. Although most of the incidents were never entirely Cruise’s fault, the company wants to use the time off to review its approach and put in place improved measures.
