EV Deliveries Rise in Q3/2022
The electric car manufacturers report their figures for Q3 2022 and it becomes clear that – in contrast to internal combustion vehicles – production and deliveries have increased everywhere, in some cases massively, and record figures have been produced.
Rivian
Rivian, for example, reported production of 7,263 R1T pickups and R1S SUVs, of which 6,584 have been delivered. This brings Rivian’s production this year to 14,317 vehicles, more than 10,000 vehicles short of this year’s target of 25,000 vehicles. Production increased 67 percent from the second quarter to the third quarter and 72 percent between the first and second quarters of 2022.
The company had already reported a second-quarter Q3 loss of $1.71 billion and expects a full-year loss of $5.45 billion. The company did not report the production figures for the electric delivery vans, several hundred of which had already been delivered to Amazon in the last quarter.
Tesla
The top dog among electric car manufacturers reported 365,923 vehicles produced and 343,830 delivered. This is a 52 percent increase in production and a 42 percent increase in deliveries compared to the same quarter last year.
This makes a total annual production of more than 1.3 million vehicles likely. Supporting this is the fact that Austin is already producing 1,000 vehicles per week and Berlin on 2,000 vehicles per week.
Others
It will be interesting to compare these figures with traditional manufacturers such as BMW, VW or GM and see whether they can keep up.
