Lockable Public Chargers

Vandalism at charging stations is a problem that should not be underestimated. Nothing hinders e-mobility more than a charging infrastructure that does not work, whether due to poor maintenance or deliberate damage. Time and again there are reports of cables being cut or stations simply smashed. I posted an example here a few months ago where all the charging stations in a public zoo were out of order (video).

However, there are new concepts to put a stop to vandalism. These public charging stations from ChargePoint are located in a lockable cage, which are completely locked outside the opening hours of the public park. They are located in Woodward Park in Fresno, California.

At least for this application it makes sense, as nobody should be charging there outside of opening hours anyway. For many other cases, however, this is a less suitable scenario.
