Mercedes Convertible Autonomous Test Vehicle Spotted

A Mercedes convertible with camouflage foiling was spotted today by our reader Gerd Moll on the highway A 81 in the direction of Singen near Rottweil in Germany. Note the protrusions on the roof of the convertible for the sensors installed there (cameras, lidars?), as well as the camera at the rear window and the radars/lidars(?) at the bumpers.

As far as I know, this is the first convertible to be used for autonomous driving tests. It will be interesting to see where the sensors for autonomous driving have to be installed on a vehicle with a foldable roof.

And a question: is this an electric vehicle?
