Swarms of Zoox Vehicles Roaming San Francisco
If you regularly spend any amount of time in the San Francisco Bay Area, you’re bound to encounter autonomous vehicles. While Cruise’s and Waymo’s roboatxi operations are hard to miss in San Francisco, Zoox’s autonomous test vehicles are now making an increased appearance.
Here are the vehicles I encountered within 15 minutes around one of their depots on Treat Avenue in San Francisco. The fact that Zoox’s test drives are apparently intensifying are a signal that the tech company, which is part of Amazon, has stepped up its efforts and may soon be looking to deploy its new vehicles and perhaps even operate them with passengers. At least in Las Vegas, Zoox is already using the vehicles in a small test operation.
