Tesla Semi Truck Production Starts

It’s been a long time coming, but now the time has come: the all-electric Tesla Semi Truck – a Class 8 truck – is going into production immediately and is scheduled for delivery from December 1. The first vehicles are to go to the beverage giant Pepsi.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk made the announcement in a tweet, on a day when the stock market had once again slapped his company, despite the fact that the company has delivered a record number of electric cars.

The Tesla Semi Truck is the 6th vehicle model to join the product range after the Roadster, Model S, Model X, Model 3 and Model Y. The Semi has a range of 500 miles (800km) with 40 tons of load. In the spring, the Cybertruck – a pickup truck – is to be added as a further vehicle model.
