Estonian Autonomous Shuttle Starts Test Operation in Tokyo

The Estonian start-up Auve Tech has started a test run of its autonomous MiCa shuttle in Tokyo. It runs on a predetermined route in Haneda Innovation City (HI City) in the Japanese capital. This route covers approximately 1.2 km around HI City and transports commuters and visitors to this part of the city on a daily basis. With 12 departures per day, MiCa seamlessly connects various points within the city, including the newly introduced “ZONE B” bus stop, which is strategically located near Tenkubashi Station, the gateway to HI City.

This is a year-round collaboration between Softbank’s BOLDLY Inc (ボードリー) and HI City.

The autonomous MiCa shuttle has 8 seats, is electrically powered on the rear axle and can travel at speeds of up to 25 km/h. The battery capacity is 17.6 kWh, the charging time is 3 hours, with Supercharger 55 minutes and can be in operation for up to 20 hours.

Here is another video with the previous generation of the shuttle, the Iseauto:
