Remote-Controlled Driving as Demonstrated by Phantom Auto

I was just able to take a remote-controlled vehicle from Qibus for a spin, and the question immediately arises as to what this actually looks like in the background. In addition to Qibus, companies such as Vay from Germany and Phantom Auto are also working on steering vehicles using teleoperation. And the vehicles can be those for passengers, as with Qibus and Vay, or industrial vehicles on company premises.

Phantom Auto CEO Shai Magzimof showed a short video snippet of the “steering center” with employees operating forklift trucks in department stores. This allows an employee to operate several forklift trucks one after the other without having to be on site and drive to a forklift truck in another plant first. Simply log in remotely and off you go.

The employees themselves naturally have the necessary driving licenses and are also trained in the specific features of the warehouses and the company premises. Robot taxi fleets can also maneuver autonomous cars out of difficult situations using such a teleoperation center. And robo-trucks have to stop at the side of the road and wait for the next day after the maximum permitted driving time of a driver has expired; a rested driver can take over the wheel from the control center and continue driving.

Here is a more extensive video of Phantom Auto:
